The date of your upcoming wedding may feel a million miles away in the middle of winter, but it’s not too early to start the planning process. This is a time when we start hearing from a lot of brides who are beginning to arrange the details of their weddings in earnest, and that includes their cake and/or dessert choices.
To help you with the sweet end of things, we thought we’d post the process we take our brides through as they plan their wedding cake, dessert table and any other sweet options they may wish for that special day.
About The Process:
Up to a year in advance:
Lisa Curtis, the owner of Sweet Simone’s, likes to meet with all her brides personally, so she’ll most likely be the one getting back to you and the one you will meet with for your tasting appointment (see below). If you have certain dates, days or times you prefer to meet, you can let us know at this stage.
6 months – 1 year before your wedding:
Set up a time to come in for a cake tasting.
You will set up a time to meet with Lisa. This is your time to go over all the details of your wedding cake and/or dessert choices you envision for your event, talk about options, colors, flavors and of course….taste cake!
Tip: Bring things that we can refer to for your cake design’s color, style and particular details, such as swatches of ribbon or fabric, your invitation, or pictures taken from magazines or the web. All these things help paint a clearer picture of exactly what you want.
Secure the date.
Because we put the utmost personal attention and care into every single wedding we do, we limit the number we do in any given weekend. Therefore, we recommend highly that you secure your date with us as soon as possible as we often book up many months in advance.
Often, the most convenient time to do this is at the end of your tasting appointment. Your contract is drawn up and signed, then a (minimum) 20% deposit secures your date with us.
2 – 4 weeks before your wedding day:
Tie things up and finalize.
The full balance of your cake is due in full no later than 2 Weeks before your wedding. This is also a good time to do a confirmation of the details and delivery information to make sure there are no surprises.
Your wedding day!
All you have to do now is enjoy your special day – make sure you take time to enjoy dessert! Congratulations!
